Governmental Projects
Key and Recent Governmental Projects:
The following list details a portion of Minethurn’s work for the U.S. Department of Defense and state governmental agencies. Minethurn’s position as a small, woman-owned business places us in a beneficial position to serve as a contractor or subcontractor for governmental software engineering projects.
Department of Defense:- Air Force Research Library (AFRL)—Created a real-time data capture station for the AMRAAM missile program. Created a capture station capable of reading thirty-two simultaneous data channels from monitors used in missile airframe monitoring. Included Fast Fourier Transforms for analysis of captured post-flight data. Utilized a multi-processor Unix platform and X-windows/Motif, Worte device driver for VME bus data capture card, as well as application and buffer management tools. Developed in C++.
- Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT)—Along with TASC (now GD), developed the Virtual Schoolhouse web-based learning system, allowing the Acquisition School of the Air Force to remotely train new acquisition professionals with real-time teacher support, online testing, and student result tracking. Created multiple courses used by the A.F. for five years. This project won a Vice President Al Gore’s Hammer Award for significant contributions in reinventing government. The Air Force’s use of Virtual Schoolhouse resulted in an estimated one million dollars per year savings per year. Developed in C++, Oracle 8i, HTML, Javascript.
- Army Reserve—Along with Boeing and Comware, created an office software training package to emulate office software in X-windows, allowing increased numbers of users to practice with the software. Utilized X-windows, Unix, awk, ksh.
- AFRL—Minethurn served as the lead development team in porting an X-windows simulation development tool to MS Windows. Utilized C++, MFC, Windows, Unix, X-windows.
- DARPA—Developed a prototype with TASC as part of the Advanced Logistics Program to allow automated deployment planning for AF Wings to remote bases. Our application communicated remotely and asynchronously with other applications to combine deployment packages and reduce the overall transport footprint. GUI tools allowed the Wing commanders to override the aircraft and equipment selections in real-time. Developed in Java with Swing, multi-threaded, RMI.
- MSG/SLR—Developed and deployed the Other War Reserve Materiel Requirements (D072 OWRMR). Converted a set of COBOL programs on a 370 mainframe to a JEE application running on the GCSS-AF application server. Utilized Oracle Application Server (OAS), Oracle AQ, Oracle 9i database, Java, J2EE, JMS, EJB, BMP,&CMP.
- Ohio Bureau of Workman’s Compensation—Created a PC terminal emulation package to allow WAN access to the Bureau’s NCR Mainframe from anywhere in Ohio. Created the 7920 terminal emulation code, communications software to manage the X.25 serial connections, and a multiplexing STREAMS device driver to communicate with the mainframe.
